So many details about this wedding to share today... Amy and Toby had a ridiculously cute wedding at Millcreek Inn in Salt Lake City, Utah on May 9th. With some help from Toby's sister-in-law, the oh-so-talented Heather Balliet of Amorology Weddings, the owl theme and blue, yellow and orange color scheme came together. The photos were all done by Jason McGrew of Jason McGrew Photography, and some of them totally blew me away. On to the details!
From Heather of Amorology: "As I was brainstorming with Amy and Toby about a concept for their wedding, Amy's love of owls and trees kept coming up. Amy has quite the collection of owls and I wanted to find a way to incorporate that element into their wedding. One of my first steps was in locating a site for them. This was going to be an out of state wedding for me which always requires a little more research but Millcreek Inn in Salt Lake City, Utah seemed to be the perfect backdrop. Being up the canyon it offered a rustic feel but allowed for just the right opportunity to add an updated look."
Heather worked closely with Liz at Whimsy Floral to develop the vision and "they did an amazing job. All of the flowers in deep hues of oranges and yellows were beautiful! ...and the rununculus were still in season there which was a happy surprise."
Orange nails! Love it.
Love the bright yellow bridesmaids dresses by J.Crew.
The couple was married in the LDS Salt Lake City Temple. The swirling clouds in this picture look so mystical. :)
On to the reception!
Heather from Amorology hung lanterns and flower balls to "add dimension and create more ambiance in the space."
"The lush and fabulous centerpieces made by Whimsy Floral were made up of celosia, roses, tulips, billy balls, mini calla lillies and kangaroo paw. They were wrapped in a light wood veneer that gave them a unique and updated rustic look. By alternating these arrangements with the bricks of yellow mums that ceramic owls sat on we gave the event a little more interest. I am always a fan of mixing it up and making the tables a little different."
"Amy wanted a clean, streamlined and somewhat urban look and when I found these white ceramic owls at Z Gallerie I knew they would be just the right thing to add to the centerpieces. I loved the chic and stylish feel of them and immediately pictured them on a bed of yellow mums."
Owl themed signs by Courtney Scowby Designs with sayings like "WHOO wants dessert?" were woven throughout.
Homemade lollipops by the bride's mom sat at each place setting and were tied with customized tags that read "Owl love you forever".
Owl themed tea towels that Heather found at Anthropologie added decor to the Cake Table and served as part of her gift to Amy and Toby.
"As a last minute idea I had, and by last minute, I mean two days prior... we had one of Amy's talented Bridesmaids create branches on two large canvases to mimick the branches on the tea towels I had gave her. We then placed these at the sign-in table and gave guests paint pens to sign their wishes to the couple. I loved how it turned out! The end result was so fun and a work of art that they are able to hang in their home."
When the cake arrived, the bottom tier of the cake had collapsed. One of the gals from Whimsy Floral whipped up some frosting and saved the top two tiers. You can't even tell it wasn't meant to look like this!
Another adorable sign.
"For the grand exit we filled a trunk of white feathers and handed them out to guests to toss at the couple as they left. It was a soft farewell and I loved the effect of the floating feathers."
