Real Wedding: Ann and Justin

I had two good ideas for posts today, and I got scooped on both of them. As I was scurrying to find a replacement post, I came across this amazing wedding! I think it must have been meant to be, because think this wedding is sooo beautiful. The wedding took place Memorial Day weekend at Oatland's Plantation, a National Historic Landmark near Leesburg, Virginia. The wedding was coordinated by Washington DC wedding planner Pam of A Trendy Wedding, and all the amazing florals were done by Christopher Vasquez of Amaryllis. Holland Photo Arts were the photographers behind this wedding, but DC photographer Kate Headly was a guest and couldn't resist snapping some incredible photos while there, and I couldn't resist loving her photos! I think my favorite thing about this wedding is that while it may be a "platinum wedding", at the same time, it also looks down to earth and fun, with little details that make the day.
Ann picked an Oscar de la Renta gown - she knew as soon as she put it on that it was "the one".

From Holland Photo Arts: "The bright flowers for the arbor, bouquets, and of course tabletops were provided by Amaryllis’s Christopher Vasquez. So enamored with the peonies he had done for past clients, Ann loved the thought of having a large bouquet of them for her own wedding and was touched to learn later that he actually plucked them from his own personal garden the morning of the ceremony to tie together for her."

The cake was done by Kendall's Cakes of Virginia, and the design was a perfect match of the lace and flowers on Ann's Oscar de la Renta dress! Amazing!

Day After Shoot: Pernel and Aaron

Today's post features the cute couple from Friday's real wedding, Pernel and Aaron. Day after shoots can be much more relaxed and arty than on your wedding day, and allow the photographer to really get creative and take their time to get some amazing shots you just didn't have the time for on your big day. Pernel and Aaron's day after shoot was with photographer Stephanie Williams. From Stephanie: "When Pernel and Aaron contacted me for their wedding, I was already booked! But, I’m so glad they booked for a day after session! I really love shooting these types of sessions - there’s so much more freedom than on the wedding day! We had an adventure in Escondido, California, pulling off on the side of the road whenever we found a good spot to shoot. Pernel and Aaron make an unbelievably gorgeous couple, and we had so much fun at their session."

Are you planning on doing some type of after wedding shoot? Would you do a day after type shoot? Leave a comment!

Real Wedding: Pernell and Aaron

This is the last real wedding of yellow wedding week here on Marry You Me! This one might be my favorite so far...the sunny yellow is paired with a cool aqua blue. The wedding was planned by the super talented Heather Balliet of Amorology in Southern California, who is my idol as far as wedding and event planning go, and the photography was done by Hugh Forte. From Heather: "From the minute I met Pernel & Aaron I simply loved them! They are a ray of sunshine! They are beautiful on the outside and just as charming on the inside. I knew we would need a wedding to match. I was so excited when Pernel gave me a palatte of mint green, aqua, lemon yellow, peony pink and a touch of poppy red to play with! This is one of those color combinations that just immediately began to inspire."
"Aaron often would bring Pernel peonies (her favorite flowers)...so of course we had to fill her bouquet with them! Twigg Botanicals did an absolutely amazing job with the flowers for this wedding. I think this may have been one of my mom's very favorite bouquets she has done. The gorgeous bundle of peonies, garden roses and billy balls was breathtaking."

I'm in love with Pernel's dress with that lace at the top of the sweet heart neckline...

The bridesmaids wore blue shift dresses from Anthropologie with yellow heels.

The pretty bridesmaids bouquet.

Aaron's boutonniere was made from fever few, a rose and freesia.

On to the reception!
The little tags on the lemons said "Pucker Up" - so cute!

The tables all had cute names like Honey Buns and Lemon Drop.

"We gathered vintage elements of Hobnail milk glass and Jadite for the tables to bring the mint color. I loved the charming feel they offered."
"We also painted over 100 mason jars aqua to bring the pop of color to the table. We tied the jars with ribbon and filled the jars with candles and various flowers."
The lemonade sign read "Main Squeeze" - too cute!
"The cake, beautifully done by Sweet Cheeks, sat upon a jadite stand and was adorned with vintage battenburg lace we had found and peonies."
"Glasses of sugared lemondrops held the escort cards and helped direct guests to their seats. These jars of lemondrops later turned into a favor bar at the end of the night, where guests could scoop up candy to take home for themselves."

"Okay, so...when Aaron & Pernel told me that they would be doing a little swing dance I had no idea that there would be flipping and twirling, Splits and all types of professional "So You Think You Can Dance" type stuff. A-MAZING!! Pernel did a quick change into her little white swing dress and red shoes and the two of them captured all of our attention."

"As they left, guests formed a daisy arch with daisies we passed out for them to run under. A vintage Rolls Royce greeted them to take them away."
