Anniversary Weekend in Carmel

This weekend (the 6th to be exact) is our one year anniversary... We are going back to Carmel, California, where we were married, for a romantic weekend. And the best part of this romantic weekend with the man I love? Doing a "day after" style shoot with my favorite wedding photographer - the incredible Stephanie Williams!! I sent her a picture of this gate in Carmel I have long been in love with - I think we'll get a shot or two in front of it. We're also doing pictures at the hotel where we got married, La Playa. I can't wait to share the results of our session!

Day After Shoot: Pernel and Aaron

Today's post features the cute couple from Friday's real wedding, Pernel and Aaron. Day after shoots can be much more relaxed and arty than on your wedding day, and allow the photographer to really get creative and take their time to get some amazing shots you just didn't have the time for on your big day. Pernel and Aaron's day after shoot was with photographer Stephanie Williams. From Stephanie: "When Pernel and Aaron contacted me for their wedding, I was already booked! But, I’m so glad they booked for a day after session! I really love shooting these types of sessions - there’s so much more freedom than on the wedding day! We had an adventure in Escondido, California, pulling off on the side of the road whenever we found a good spot to shoot. Pernel and Aaron make an unbelievably gorgeous couple, and we had so much fun at their session."

Are you planning on doing some type of after wedding shoot? Would you do a day after type shoot? Leave a comment!

Shake It Like A Polaroid Picture

I love Polaroids. I love Polaroids of weddings, like these by Nicole Hill Gerulat, or these from Snippet & Ink. But Polaroid announced they were retiring the instant film cameras a while back and they stopped making the film for the cameras also - making Polaroid film a precious commodity. So imagine my (and a lot of other people's) glee when I discovered Poladroid. That's droid, not roid. It lets you turn any digital picture into a Polaroid style photo, complete with random color variations.

Want to get started turning your photos into Polaroids?
1) Download the FREE Poladroid application and launch it.
2) Drag & drop your photos
3) Wait . . . wait . . . wait some more . . . or just shake the picture by clicking and holding then shaking it all around.
4) Then look at, share or print your Poladroid picture!

Here's some of my Poladroids made from my wedding pics, and one of my adorable little Oscar dog.

Real Wedding: Sarah and Brandon

I came across this wedding shot by the fantastic Jonathan Canlas and fell in love with the color scheme, the great flowers, the dresses, and the gorgeous couple. Sarah and Brandon got married last August at the Newport Beach, California LDS temple and then had an open house style reception the following weekend in Alpine, Utah.

How cute are her pink shoes!

And these bridesmaids dresses! Such good colors together...

Vendor Highlight: Kate Kelly Photography

We just got back from our fun weekend in Portland and I'm exhausted! I want to share my findings from the La La Laurie trunk show and from The English Dept later, but first I've been dying to share some of Kate Kelly's fantastic work. I met her at the Bravo! Wedding Show in Portland back in February, and fell in love with her work. She's based in Portland but will travel all over and she definitely does shoot all over - Jamaica, Hawaii, LA, San Francisco to name a few. Here's some of her gorgeous wedding work.
