Daily Favorite: Rose Petal Aisle

Photo from Martha Stewart Weddings

I love this picture... it just inspires me so much. The little girl in this picture reminds me of when I was younger. Growing up, my grandfather's resort in Carmel Valley, California had a path through trees similar to this photo, and I used to pick hydrangeas as my "bouquet" and walk down the aisle (which I imagined would be carpeted solid with flower petals) humming "here comes the bride".

Some of my favorite things right now...

I come across so many things in my daily quest for all things weddings, love and sweetness that I couldn't possibly feature them all on Marry You Me, or they are already featured so well I couldn't do them anymore justice. Here's a few of my favorite things that I am loving from the wedding blog world right now...

Amazing photos from Sabine Scherer of a Marie Antoinette inspired cake by Cake Coquette on Weddingbee PRO.

A delightfully charming Airstream wedding parts I, II, III, and IV over on OnceWed.

A Carnival Wedding by Amorology complete with cotton candy, games and a ferris wheel. So fun. I love this even more since I just got done planning a carnival!

Succulent favors over on Santa Barbara Wedding Chic. Soooo in love with succulents right now...I've been planning a cute coffee table + mantle arrangements for our house.

Today was just one of those days where I couldn't throw together a post because I was a.) exhausted from finals that I'm still not done with b.) my old ibook laptop, whom I've nicknamed Lazaraus, is on its last legs and I can't use it with out it crashing and I need to save it's life until my new MacBook Pro gets here tomorrow! Finally and most importantly c.) I was too distracted by all the amazing weddings featured on some of my favorite blogs today to come up with my own stuff, so I thought I would share all of the inspirational gorgeousness with you!

Daily Favorite: L-O-V-E plates

I came across these adorable plates on InkyPink, a great source for favors and wedding accessories that aren't tacky or gag inducing (well at least that's my reaction to most wedding favors). These L-O-V-E plates would make a great addition to your cocktail hour or buffet if you are having a modern theme, or I think they make a great engagement present or a wedding present any bride would be happy to receive. Very cute and unique at a great price (under $37 bucks)!!

Daily Favorite: Ruffles and Roses

Yesterday when I opened up my new issue of Modern Bride, I gasped with delight when I saw this amazing silk dupioni rosette dress by J.Crew. It has rosettes covering the whole dress, and it comes in pink and navy. I'm swooning!

It's a little on the pricey side, but wouldn't it be great for a fancy rehearsal dinner (or even a very special bridesmaids dress)??

I also spotted this pink Luisa Beccaria strapless ruffled dress that Sara Bareilles wore to the Grammys this year. So fabulous with those red shoes!

Daily Favorite: DIY Lace Clutch

Looking for a super cute bridesmaid's present? Most people wouldn't consider a DIY project for these gifts, but they can be much cuter and more meaningful than a store bought token. Case in point, these adorable DIY Lace Clutches featured in the Spring 2009 issue of Martha Stewart Weddings. For this project, you'll print clip art onto heat-transfer paper and iron the designs onto fabric. Some light sewing will be involved - enlist Mom or a friend/relative with a sewing machine and some sewing knowledge if you are like me and are a sewing neophyte.

DIY Lace Clutch

How-To
1. Print clutch design on iron-on heat-transfer paper.

2. Iron the design onto ivory cotton canvas, following the manufacturer's instructions. (Be sure to position the transfer so the long edge is parallel to the grain of the fabric.)

3. With scissors, cut out design, leaving a 1/4-inch border at left, right, and scalloped sides. At the bottom, leave a 1/2-inch border.

4. Cut left and right sides with scalloping shears, leaving 1/8 inch as border.

5. Flip canvas over and fold bottom up 3 1/2 inches. Top-stitch both sides closed.

7. Stitch a 20-inch length of ribbon to the center of the bottom portion of the clutch, 2 inches from the bottom.

6. With a screw punch, punch a hole at the top center, 1 1/2 inches down from the point of the center scallop. If you do not have a screw punch, make a 1/2-inch vertical slit with scissors.

7. Fold top half down 3 1/2 inches. Pull ribbon through hole or slit, and tie in a bow to close.

Clip Art
*The only clip art colors available on MS Weddings for this project are an aqua blue, a yellow and a grey. To get some different color options, you could use photoshop on the pdf.

Daily Favorite: Watters Cotton Lace dress for Spring 2009

I just found this oh-so-amazing dress by Watters from their just released Spring 2009 collection. For those of you who may not have heard of Watters, they are an amazing line of gowns that are budget-friendly without sacrificing on style or quality.

Watters actually is two lines: Watters Brides and Wtoo Brides (as well as maids and moms). I was a Watters bride for my wedding, and their dresses (almost all under $2000) easily compared with the gowns in the $4000+ range in terms of quality, feel, material, and detail. I can't say enough good things about them!

The dress is Watters Brides style 4049B, the "San Miguel". It's a cotton crocheted lace strapless gown with subtle trumpet A-line skirt and lace flower embellishment, also with a sweep train.
And look at that stunning neckline! So flattering...

Could this picture be any cuter? I picked this a daily favorite to show there are so many unique shots a photographer can work with you on to really capture the spirit of the day in addition to the standard posed group shots.

This photo is just fabulous. I love the blue wall, the lamp, and that dress! What a fun idea for the now standard professional "dress on hanger" shot.

I want to do a whole other post on bridcage veils, but had to share a quick favorite. Brenda of Brenda's Bridal Veils on eBay makes some of the prettiest birdcage veils I have ever seen! I ordered my birdcage veil from Brenda to wear after the ceremony for the reception and loved it so much. They are so well made and well priced and she has one of the best selections I have seen.

I just love the detail of the seed pearls on the ivory flower, and the black feather piece would look so glam on bridesmaids in all black dresses.

I am beginning to love dresses with sleeves more and more. That being said, they can be frustrating at the same time. The neckline can actually make you seem bigger and the options are fewer than the strapless variety, especially where bridesmaids dresses are concerned. That's why I was so delighted to come across this bridesmaids dress on a modest wedding dress website. Not only would it be an adorable bridesmaids dress, but it could be a great engagement party, bridal shower, or rehearsal dinner dress. It's a serious contender for me to wear to a friend's upcoming engagement party...

After seeing these on OnceWed I fell completely in love. What a beautiful DIY project! I've been trying to figure out where in my house I could use these. Maybe on my patio in the summer.
