I'm so excited to feature this real wedding today not only because it is such a beautiful event but also because I went to high school (and played lacrosse with) the gorgeous bride Abby! The photos by Sabine Scherer and Matt Andrews are fantastic! Enjoy!
Abby and Evan met while attending Vanderbilt University, and were engaged for nine months before tying the knot March 29, 2008. They were married at St. George's Episcopal church in Nashville, Tennessee and the reception was held at the Travellers Rest Plantation in Nashville.
Abby wore a Melissa Sweet gown with a Monique Lhuiller bolero - I just love that she mixed the two designers to create her own unique seamless look!
"I loved getting ready with my girlfriends. Having all those amazing women from different parts of my life all together, having fun, drinking mimosas and having hair and makeup done, and just laughing, it was great."
"Our goal was to focus on local Nashville goodies, so we did welcome baskets that included GooGoo's (a local candy), Jack Daniel's whiskey - which is made right up the road, and lots of tourist information and coupons for our local favorite spots."Such a fun ring pic!
In true southern fashion, Abby and Evan had large wedding parties. "We had 10 bridesmaids and groomsmen, 2 ushers, and 2 in the house party. We also had two ring bearers, both our nephews."
The colors were "a lot of navy and white", and the bridesmaids wore kelly green shantung silk dresses by Aria dress for a nice splash of color.
"Shawn Renegar of The East Garden in Nashville did all of the flowers was able to take my ideas and lack of flower knowledge and make amazingly simple, but beautiful arrangements."
"One of the best moments of the day was when the doors of the church opened and the organ started playing and my dad and I started walking down the longest aisle ever!!"
"The most memorable moment of the ceremony was when the priest told us to turn around while we were at the alter and look at all our friends and family in the church and realize that everyone there was an important part of our lives together... it was an incredible feeling to take a moment to see everyone together."The groom, groomsmen and ushers all wore traditional white tie and tails. Very classic.
For the dinner "we wanted some of our favorite southern foods served, so we had a shrimp and grits bar and sweet potato biscuits with ham."
"Dessert Design makes the best cakes in Nashville and made us an amazing wedding cake as well as an incredible grooms cake."
Evan the groom is a musician..."he got up at the reception and sang "Jenny - 867-5309" with the band and had the whole reception singing along.""The photographer Matt Andrews was a friend of Evan's who he used to play music with, and our other photographer was my new sister-in-law Sabine Scherer" who was technically a guest but couldn't resist taking some snaps of the day for the couple! Who can blame her with such a gorgeous bride and beautiful wedding!
Thank you Abby for letting me feature your amazing wedding!
