E-Session: Retro Road Trip

I am in serious loooove with this idea of a retro inspired road trip as an amazing engagement session. It's very old Hollywood movie romance - just you, your man, and the open road in a fabulous roadster or other vintage car. This shoot was done by the talented photographer Christa Taylor, who also designs a fantastic line of stylish modest dresses - these are from her upcoming fall collection, and some amazing veil hats by Unveiled.

Thanks so much to Christa Taylor and Katie Greiner for sharing these amazing photos!

Real Wedding: Catherine and Hans' Rainy Day Wedding

I woke up to pouring rain and fall-ish cold here in Oregon - I was slightly bummed (it's still August!) but lots of people seem ready for fall and fall weddings. So I thought I'd re-share this goodie, a rainy day wedding that is one of my all time faves. The rain can be so romantic and moody - and this wedding captures that perfectly! Somehow it just wouldn't have the same appeal in bright sunlight. The groom Hans DIY'd pretty much every detail of this wedding, from the invitations to the vintage typewriter decor to the brides headband (wow!) and dress (WOW!!). Looks like that and he can sew - he's a keeper :).

The couple's DIY styled engagement photo that they included with the DIY antique map/player piano scroll invitations.
Seattle LDS Temple in Bellevue, Washington - I used to live within walking distance! We used to walk these pretty trails located all around the temple...
The table decor featured a typewriter at one end with player paino rolls fed through that acted as table runners. Mismatched blue mason jars with lillies and candleabras completed the look.
Catherine's shoes are so fab with her adorable short bubble hem dress inspired by a Luly Yang dress but created and sewn by her husband.A typewriter cake - too cute.
Guests received jars of honey as favors that also served as placecards and indicated the guests' food choice.
Sigh - has the rain ever looked so good??

Inspiration Board: Up and Away

Summer is winding down but I'm not ready to see it go! So I'm keeping summer alive today with some sunny destination wedding (in Palm Springs maybe?) inspiration with bright, punchy colors. I love when sherbet-y pastels are amped up just a few notches on the brightness scale. This wedding is a fun mix of classic style and 60's mod. So of course, there should be an emphasis on cocktails (and cupcakes).

Romantic Country Elegance Inspiration

Today I have another sweet inspired photoshoot from Melanie of Melanie Jade Photography and Ashley of Stargazer Weddings, but this time they went with a romantic, elegant country theme. I am loving the farm-meets-Victorian feel - the white bowls, creamers and compotes filled with pink, white and yellow flowers with green apples as the main centerpiece, the wood chairs and candlesticks and of course the sweet apple pie buffet table with homemade apple butter favors.

Thanks so much Melanie for sharing!

Aqua, Lemon and White Inspiration

This sweet little photoshoot put together by Oregon photographer Melanie Jade and Ashley of Stargazer Weddings has such a fresh palette of aqua blue, lemon yellow and white. There are some great and inexpensive steal worthy tablescape ideas from this workshop - white bowls filled with lemons, single yellow flowers in milkglass vases, the white tissue poms. Loving this color combo so much! And the adorable couple who modeled for the shoot have been married for 10 years and have three kids, and were excited to do this since they never really had a photographer at their own wedding. And I'm adoring her whole outfit, especially that hair flower!

More to come from this team of vendors tomorrow with a whole different look!
