Wedding Style: Mad Men Inspired

After eight long months of waiting, the Season 4 premiere of Mad Men was last night. Feeling ultra inspired by the polished look of 1960's world of Don and Betty Draper and Sterling Cooper, I put together a little Mad Men wedding style guide.

Starting off with a style board for the fellows...
Mad for the Men

Cool cars, cocktails, slick suits, grooming and styling accouterments, and a lovely little bride - a groom's Mad Men inspired wedding day essentials. And of course, he'll need his groomsmen nearby...

And on to the ladies...
Outfit your maids in retro inspired frocks a la Joan, Betty and Peggy... Or steal the look for yourself for an e-session, shower, rehearsal dinner or going away dress.

Some 60's inspired wedding dresses for the Man Men enthusiast and retro fashionista... All under $600!

Wedding Design: Spring + Vintage = Love

I am so excited about this first post of the new year here on Marry You Me! I wanted to share something super gorgeous with great ideas that can be applied to other weddings, and I feel like this photo shoot styled by Rebecca Stone of Duet Weddings and Camille Panzarello of Modern Day Design and shot by Corbin Gurkin totally fits the bill. A spring + vintage theme with turquoise (Pantone's color pick of 2010 for weddings), and shades of pinks and purples. Amazing!

The invitations were created for the shoot by Lisa Hoffman of Ceci New York.

Flea market finds, like these birdcages, took center stage at this "wedding".

The bride's tea length dress was made by Elizabeth Dye.

An old gate door was salvaged and turned into a wedding sign by Laura Hooper. Fuschia escort cards are tied to an iron gate, adding visual interest and loads of charm.

The flowers by Camille Panzarello of Modern Day Design perfectly reflect the colors used throughout the wedding shoot.

Fresh berries in turquoise crates serve as the perfect sweet favors for guests.

More flea market finds: Macarons in vintage glass flanked by vintage tin cans.

A quick dress change into a vintage Anna Sui gown.

Sheets of vintage music serve as perfect placemats, and the place setting is the ideal mix of rentals and flea market finds.

So much fabulous inspiration and such a great way to start off 2010 here on Marry You Me!

Wedding Design: Soft Wool by Brancoprata

I am loving this wintry design concept and tablescape that my dear e-friend Sofia of Brancoprata put together along with her business partner and other half Andre. She was inspired by wool yarn and wool pom-poms and the results of her efforts are amazing and would be so lovely for a winter wedding! The soft wool feel along with a crisp clean white paired with the softest of pastels make this design concept almost heavenly - everything was DIY'd by Sofia - pretty amazing!

From Sofia: "Now that Winter is here, we felt the need to do something with wool pompons and then when we saw this Christmas decoration by Jennifer (of The Little Things) and we knew exactly what to do!"

Wedding Design: Pretty Parisian

There is a fabulous wedding magazine you will be hard pressed to find in a bookstore or at a newsstand here in the US called Wedding Style Guide: The Ultimate Design and Decoration Magazine for Your Wedding . Hard to find, because it is an Australian magazine. I don't know of any wedding magazine here that bills itself as "the ultimate design and decoration magazine" and Wedding Style Guide has me wishing there was one. They feature tons of great wedding theme ideas and downloads for templates to go along on their website. I LOVE this shoot and am even debating shelling out $11 to download this issue.

From Style Guide: "This oh-so-pretty slice of Paris will transport guests on a whimsical journey to the Parisian tea salon era. Subtle pastel hues, an eclectic mix of blooms, fine vintage-inspired glass and the aroma of decadent chocolates will delight the senses. This is romanticism at its best."
