Adorable Idea: Fruit and Flower Bouquet

I love bouquets that are a mix of soft and bright colors and different textures, with an extra added twist, like this lemon! Adding fruit is a unique and fun way to mix it up - pomegranates, apples, pears, lemons, or limes could all make sweet additions to a bouquet.

DIY English Spring Time Bouquet

As soon as I spotted this lovely bouquet picture on OnceWed, it was put into my file for a daily favorite later on. But then, the lovely picture turned out to be a teaser for the lovely bouquet DIY project! It was so amazing, I just had to feature it here, too. Thank you to Chelsea at OnceWed for this beautiful project!

Instructions:


For the Bridal Bouquet:
You need:
10 red/white anemone stems
3 full pink roses
10 Ranunculus stems in eggplant
2 bunches of buttercup greens
2 bunches of vinca vine
2 stems of green hellebores
clippers or scissors
twine
ribbon (1.5 yards)
pins

Step # 1: Remove all most of the leaves from the stems.

Step # 2: Start with a selection of flowers in your hand. Add roses at the bottom and let the ranunculus buds peek out at the top. Turn the bouquet each time you add a new grouping of flowers. Keep turning and adding until you are happy with it. Add greens around the bottom.



Step # 3: Secure with twine.

Step #4: Clip the stems so they are all the same length.

Step #5: Wrap ribbon around stem and secure with two pins.

DIY Carnation Bouquet

Charlotte York on Sex and the City called them "filler flowers", Carrie Bradshaw maintained that they were "making a comeback" and that she liked them, especially the pink ones. Well, I think Carrie would fall head over her Manolos for this DIY bouquet then!

Take about two dozen carnations in different hues of pink from fuchsia to pale blush pink. Cluster them together, then tie them with floral stem wire (about $1.50 for 110 feet) to hold them in place.

Using garden shears, trim the stems to about two fists' length. Then for the finishing touch, tuck a matching silk ribbon around the base of the blooms and down the stems. This will disguise the wire and pull the look (and your color scheme) together.

I can't wait to try this and put the cute bouquet in my new Ikea vase I picked up for $1.50 on sale while in Portland for the Bravo! Wedding Affair last weekend.

How Succulent!

One of the best trends I have seen lately are succulents popping up in bridal bouquets and centerpieces. I love how they work with not only pastels but brighter colors as well - Plus they just add so much interest!
